METHUSELAH ARCHIVE CLAIMS
Claim · 1988 · Mattei's Electro-Homeopathy (electrohomeopathic remedies)

Electropathy/electro-homeopathy, the modern Indian practice descended from Mattei's system, is a legitimate, competent system of medicine whose diploma- and degree-holders are authorized to diagnose and treat disease.

At least one organization teaching a modern Indian practice it calls “electropathy” or “electro-homeopathy” and naming Cesare Mattei as founder has, per its own account, sought formal government recognition as a system of medicine and the right to confer medical diplomas and degrees since at least the 1980s (Naturo Electro-Homoeopathy Medicos of India, “Legal Aspects & Milestones,” indiaelectropathy.org, accessed 2026). Ruling directly on a diploma-granting electropathy institution, the Bombay High Court held in 2001 that the practice was not recognized in India nor part of the recognized homeopathy system of medicine, that no government, university, or other authority had recognized the petitioner society as a medical institution entitled to confer degrees, diplomas, or certificates in the practice, and that it was not recognized as a system of medicine anywhere in the world, including Italy, where it is said to have been discovered in 1865 — ordering the institution’s courses closed and its degrees and diplomas treated as not entitling holders to practice as medical practitioners (Electropathy Medicos of India (Central Board) v. State of Maharashtra, 2001). The claim of formal recognition is recorded here as refuted by that direct judicial finding. In 2024, the Allahabad High Court held that certificate-holders could practice Electro Homeopathy as an alternative therapy in Uttar Pradesh while it remained unbanned, but that no institution could confer a diploma or degree and practitioners could not use the prefix “Doctor.” That limited permission did not supply the formal medical recognition asserted in this claim.
