NOTES
Mrs Colin Campbell Lloyd (born around 1782, per the Newgate Calendar’s report that she was forty-eight at her death; died shortly before 10 November 1830, London), the wife of Royal Navy captain Edward Lloyd, was treated by John St John Long. A coroner’s inquest at the Wilton Arms, Kinnerton Street, Knightsbridge, on 10 November 1830 returned a verdict of manslaughter against Long, its foreman citing “gross ignorance, and on other considerations.” Long was tried at the Old Bailey on this second manslaughter charge on 19 February 1831 and acquitted, with several society witnesses testifying in his favour; he did not stand trial for a third time before his own death in 1834.
