The Spectro-Chrome’s color chart assigned specific physiological and emotional effects to each of twelve colors, including respiratory/thyroid stimulation from orange light and “love and well-being” from magenta light. A 2023 peer-reviewed letter addressing present-day chromotherapy claims of this kind states that treatment of internal organs by administration of colored light is “baseless,” since visible light penetrates only the outer few millimeters of skin.
