States that Joanna Stephens claimed in 1738 to have devised an infallible cure for bladder stones, that the British government paid her 5,000 pounds (roughly 600,000 pounds today) to disclose her recipe of soap, snails, and burnt eggshells, and delivers the institution's own retrospective verdict on general efficacy: the remedy 'turned out to be entirely useless.' Used as the case's principal modern institutional evidentiary-failure source for the marketed claim of an infallible, general cure.
