Literature review of the individual herbs in Essiac/Flor-Essence, finding some experimental evidence of antioxidant, antioestrogenic, immunostimulant, and antitumour activity for individual constituent herbs, but explicitly stating that no clinical studies of Essiac or Flor-Essence had been published at the time and that experimental-setting effects had not been translated to the clinical arena.
