Vitamin C and the Common Cold
book · 1970

SUMMARY
Pauling's original popular book, which introduced his case for megadose (multi-gram) vitamin C as prevention and treatment for the common cold to a mass audience. Publisher and year confirmed directly from the Internet Archive catalog record, whose notes field states the book was originally published by W.H. Freeman in 1970 under this title. The 1981 Berkley Books edition on the same catalog record is retitled Vitamin C, the Common Cold, & the Flu.
NOTES
The book that made megadose vitamin C a mass consumer behavior; its central quantitative claim was drawn from a single trial on Swiss schoolchildren at a ski camp, extrapolated to the general population (see hemila-chalker-cochrane-2013 for the later systematic-review correction of that extrapolation).
