SUMMARY
Peer-reviewed systematic review of 20 RCTs (N=4,247) of Kneipp hydrotherapy across disease therapy and prevention. Verbatim conclusion: 'Although RCTs on Kneipp hydrotherapy seem to show positive effects in some conditions and outcomes, it remains difficult to ascertain treatment effects due to the high risk of bias and heterogeneity of most of the considered studies. Further high-quality RCTs on Kneipp hydrotherapy are urgently warranted.' Verbatim competing-interests statement: 'The authors MO, AKK, HC, GR, MT, HH and KL declare that they have no financial or other competing interests. BB was supported by the Kneipp Association in the context of his professorship at the Charité.' DOI, PMID, and both verbatim strings confirmed directly on the PubMed record page. This is the case's present-day-critique anchor for the active-enterprise sourced-critique standard.
NOTES
The disclosed funding relationship (one co-author’s professorship funded by the Kneipp Association) is recorded here and in the case body rather than omitted, consistent with the archive’s sourced-critique standard of naming conflicts explicitly without overstating them: the review’s other seven authors report no competing interests, and the review’s own conclusion is measured, not promotional.
