Contemporary (1977) peer-reviewed clinical review of laetrile, published while the controversy was at its national height, ahead of the 1978 NCI retrospective and 1982 Moertel trial. Documents proponents' claim that laetrile was completely harmless and nontoxic, and reviews the biochemical and toxicological basis for treating that claim skeptically given amygdalin's cyanide-releasing chemistry.
